    High Disk Usage

    In-Game Name: Kyle_McLeod
    Date: 25/02/2017
    Your Question:
Anyone know how to reduce disk usage? It's constantly high, and it didn't bother me much until youtube videos would start lagging and .mp4's from my desktop lol
I had this problem once and it got fixed when my brother replaced a 1 TB hard drive with a 500GB one. I'm in no condition to get a new hard drive currently, so any suggestions would be awesome and most appreciated.

Then try using softwares that kill unnecessary background processes or manually kill them yourself via the task manager

Maybe one of your malware's are running on your background.. Even if you close all background apps..

I highly recommended using Malwarebytes. It works for me

Is there a particular program in Task Manager causing high disk usage? Some viruses literally screw over your hard drive so you might want to run a scan using programs like Malwarebytes or something. Try disabling unnecessary start up programs through Task Manager > Startup at the top.

Also, send your PC specs. If you have a small amount of RAM, don't expect your hard drive to be fine as low RAM results in the usage of virtual memory which essentially partitions a part of your HDD into MUCH slower processing power and that can cause serious lag.

My disk usage is not high anymore. Though my memory usage is at 70% just because of Google Chrome and I only have 3 tabs open, one of which is this forum, youtube and facebook. Antimalware service executable used to increase my disk usage, along with 'System'. I only have chatlogarchiver enabled on startup. I tried running a scan with a pirated Malwarebytes and it didn't fix anything, made it slightly worse. This used to happen last time I installed geforce experience, which was around 5 days ago. But I uninstalled it and it stopped lagging. I usually go to bed and watch youtube videos, so my computer goes to sleep mode automatically after 40 minutes. So today when I started it up it had some problem. Black screen and some writing on it telling me to insert some hard disk or something, I don't remember. I also read that trying to update my drivers might help, but when I tried searching for some of my drivers some shady websites popped up.

    PC Specs:
    4gb ram
    500gb hard drive
    intel i3 core 3.1ghz
    nvidia gtx 550 ti

If you're thinking of some task manager.

    Try Sysinternals Process Explorer.
